Putting together a fashionable look for work, nightclubbing or a special occasion requires a bit of information and knowledge about makeup application and your individual skin type. In most cases a high fashion look is bold and is perfect for an evening affair. However, unless you are working in the fashion industry, a high fashion makeup look should be strictly reserved for evening wear or those special occasions.

Before deciding how to put on your makeup, you should decide which area of your face will be highlighted. If you use dark lipstick, dark eyeshadow and dark blush you\’ll come across looking more like a clown than a high fashion model. Instead, you must choose dark eyes and light lips or light eyes and dark lips to create a dramatic appearance.

The most popular look today are dark eyes and light lips. This is because the majority of women are not blessed with pouty lips that can be focused with dark lipstick. It is much easier to use make up in order to highlight the eye area and then use a gloss or light colored lipstick over the lips.

Eyeliner has fallen out of vogue in the last several years and many makeup artists are using a firm eyeshadow brush with a dark eyeshadow to darken the lashline. However, for the nighttime look, eyeliner is perfectly acceptable and even sought after. For a smoky look place the dark shadow on first and follow it with eyeliner and faux eyelashes.

You can maximize the drama of your fashion makeup using amethyst colored contact lenses which will color your own eyes and add a bit of sparkle to the entire effect. If you do not require contact lenses for your eyesight you may want to speak to your ophthalmologist for colored lenses for those special occasions.

Your lip gloss should shine and sparkle as well and stay on throughout the entire event. Try a lip gloss that goes on cool and tastes like peppermint. Believe it or not lip gloss will actually enhance the shape of your mouth without bringing too much attention to a feature you may not want to highlight.

Drama can also be created by using light colored eye makeup with a dark crimson lipstick. This look is achieved by applying snow white shadow from the lashline to the crease of the eye and blending it toward the brow bone. The lashes can be lined with eyeliner brush and black eyeshadow without eyeliner. Eyebrows can be calm with tinted gel and lashes with black mascara.

Women who use this look can go for a bold crimson colored lip gloss or lipstick that brings attention to the lips and lower half of the face.

Lipstick will last longer when you do not allow your lips to touch anything, including anything you eat, sip or never lick your lips. Another trick is to use lip liner first and a base coat on the lip itself; then spread the lipstick over the top. This is because lip liner is firmer and will keep the lipstick from bleeding. The lip liner should be the same shade as your lipstick color so that you do not look old, artificial or \”made up\”.

If you need help making your cheekbones look higher the trick is to use contours and shading. Powder blush across the top of the cheek and a light shade of color, a second shade in a neutral tone applied under the cheekbone will make the cheek bones appear slightly higher. If your own cheekbone is too low then put the highlight color up higher in the shading just below it. Make these very subtle colors so you don\’t appear as if you took a color by numbers that to your face.

When applying your makeup it is important to use a certain order so the makeup appears professionally applied. Moisturizers should go on first. Next, use a concealer on any blemishes or discolorations, especially for the dark circles under the eyes. After this, foundation is applied to even out the skin tone and blend away any other variation.

At this point you can apply any contouring cosmetics that you would like, such as eyeshadows and blushes. These can be soft and natural or bold and dramatic depending upon the look you are attempting to achieve. And finally you apply the details of eyebrow definition, eyeliner, mascara and lip color. These things go on last so that they aren\’t smeared or obscured by other products.

Applying fashion makeup requires a technique and process to achieve the look you are attempting. And, like paint, on special events when the makeup is not applied correctly or you are not satisfied with the results you only have to wash your face, pat it dry and start all over again. Taking a little extra time to apply makeup for that dramatic effect will give you the attention you desire and so richly deserve.
