Looking beautiful everyday starts with taking care of your skin. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it is also the thinnest. It is responsible for excreting waste products and protecting your body from environmental toxins and bacteria. It is also the first thing that people see when they look at you and how they judge your health and youth. By taking care of your skin and using a routine that promotes prevention you go a long way to achieving a desired youthful glow.
Restorative measures are much less effective than preventative ones. This means that skin care should start when a woman is in her early 20s and not when she finally faces her mortality in her mid-30s. While the term laugh line is sweet, most of us would rather not be reminded of the good times in our lives by the number of wrinkles on our face. Starting a good skincare routine at an early age will bring years of results and help us to retain a youthful appearance for as long as possible.
Taking care of your skin must be addressed from two separate angles. The first one is from the inside out, in other words nutrition. This will be addressed at another time. Today we are going to talk about skincare from the outside in. One of the biggest factors which robs us of our youthful appearance is the lack of moisture in the skin. It is definitely a key to anti-aging. The skin loses moisture on a daily basis, and especially during the winter months. We should use a high quality skin cream that contains an SPF rating of at least 15 or higher to protect from the aging effects of the sun.
Moisturizers should be applied when the skin is still damp from either a shower or washing the face. Remember that seasonal changes will affect the skin and the products that you used to protect it. Some find that the summer heat causes more dryness and others find that indoor heat during the winter months causes more dryness. You must be able to recognize the differences in your own skin and provided with adequate protection.
Moisture should also be added from the inside out. In other words, drink between eight and 10 glasses of water per day in order to provide the cells of your skin adequate moisture. This plumps the skin cells and gives you a youthful glow. Imagine looking younger by only drinking a few glasses of water per day!
The fluid you add to your bodies should be in the form of water or flavored water but should not include caffeinated drinks such as coffee or soda. The caffeine is actually a diuretic, which means that it draws water away from the body and you excrete it through the kidneys. If you are planning on drinking coffee or soda increase the amount of water you are drinking in order to make up for the diuretic effect of the caffeine. Better yet, drink decaffeinated!
Daily skincare must also include a facial wash that removes dead skin cells and environmental toxins which build up over the day. Wash your face both in the morning and evening time but don\’t rub it dry. Pat your face dry in order to decrease the amount of irritation that happens to the skin which can cause further breakouts of acne.
Once your face is washed use a toner for your skin type that helps to re-balance the skin pH prior to adding any moisturizer or treatments. Anti-aging treatments can be used at this stage during the evening hours followed by a heavy night cream. During the morning hours use a facial wash, toner and moisturizer underneath your makeup. Apply your moisturizer within five minutes of applying your makeup to help the makeup go on more smoothly.
And just a note about that make up. Any base that you use should be made especially for your skin type. Look for products that do not cause pimples, is hypo-allergenic and goes on smoothly providing you with the amount of coverage you are looking for. A good makeup base is designed to smooth your overall skin tone and not conceal pimples or scar tissue.
At least once a week use a product which exfoliates your skin. This is a process of taking off the top layer of dead skin cells and revealing younger cells. Exfoliates come in either a chemical form or a physical form, such as a product that contains small microbeads which help to remove the dead skin cells. Look for a product that\’s designed specifically for your skin type made by a manufacturer you trust.
If you choose to use skincare products which is sold over the Internet make sure they offer a money back guarantee and an ability to stop any reoccurring programs without a minimum purchase amount. While one program or product may be best for your friends or relatives, it may not work on your skin type as well. It is your job to look for a product that produces the results you desire at a price range you can afford.
Never go to bed wearing makeup. Makeup can dry the skin and mascara can dry eyelashes to the point that they crack. Remember that the eyes are very delicate and prone to find lines and bagging. When applying any product tappet into the skin and avoid stretching these fragile tissues.
Don\’t neglect your lips! Links can be exfoliated daily with a washcloth to get rid of dead skin cells and prepare them for lipstick. You may want to use a lip moisturizer in the morning to help keep your lip color on and at night to repair the damage done from a day at the office.
With faithful attention and just a minimum amount of time in both men and women can maintain a youthful appearance and healthy skin.
